Spending already 2 years of my life as a Senior Financial Officer and Head of Financial Department I have decided it’s time for something else.
And NO I’m not a job hopper and I don’t intend to become one either.
The main reason I am looking for something else is because, I REALLY don’t want to bookkeep anymore ! You might think “then WHY apply for this job in the first place ?” Well, guess what that was not supposed to BE my job from the beginning !
I asked specifically and even told them specifically that I don’t want to bookkeep anymore, but I want to DO something with the figures, like making forecasts, reporting, advising/consulting Sales departments or Marketing departments. Looking through financial procedures and adjusting them if necessary. All in all do fun stuff with the figures and not punching numbers in “all” day !
You do ofcourse need to know something about general bookkeeping, but you don’t need to DO it anymore because you have people who do that for you.
This was ALL promised me in advance, even have it in writing..but ..i ended up doing bookkeeping anyways. And to be very blund..it’s BORING ! Well to me it is after so many years working in that area.
I don’t complain because I’m getting pretty good paid for a “bookkeeping” job ! A bonus in July and November, medical insurance is one of the best and it’s a not to big of a company.
I just don’t want to be stuck forever and find out that one day “the title of the job” doesn’t fit with what I’m actually doing anymore which is pretty soon I think because it doesn’t look that it’s gonna change soon.
So anyways, I will be looking aggressively on the internet again before this year is over. These days you DO have to start early, economy wise it’s not the best time to look or be picky over a job.
